There was a morning that changed everything.
Heather was a small-town Minnesota girl who had always been the strong one. The one who smiled through it. The one who showed up for everyone else while quietly falling apart inside. After a year and a half of postpartum depression and alcohol dependency, she was standing in her bathroom with no fight left. She was ready to end her life.
And God walked into that room.
Not with thunder. Not with a sermon. With the kind of quiet presence that says, "I see you. And I am not done with you."
Amos was on the other side of that door. The Air Force veteran who had come home from Germany and Florida and built Sidewalk Technologies from nothing. The entrepreneur. The problem solver. The man who could fix anything except the one thing that mattered most. But he did the only thing that mattered more than fixing it. He stayed. Through the darkest season of their marriage, through the slow and unglamorous work of rebuilding trust one conversation at a time, he stayed. Not because he had the answers. Because he made a covenant, and he meant it.
That season almost destroyed them. Instead, it became their calling.
Heather walked away from her career. They restructured their entire life around four words: faith, family, marriage, ministry. Friends thought they were crazy. Family was nervous. But they had heard God clearly, and obedience does not always make sense to the people watching from the outside.
In 2022, Heather sat down at a kitchen table, turned on a microphone, and asked her first guest to do the one thing most people are terrified to do: tell the truth. The whole truth. About addiction. About losing a child. About abuse, disease, divorce, incarceration, trafficking, and the kind of pain that makes you wonder if God is even listening.
He is. And that is what every episode of Fortitude proves.
Something Heather never expected started happening. Strangers started reaching out. Messages at midnight. Emails from women who had been carrying the same shame in silence for years. Men who heard Amos talk about staying and thought maybe they could too. People who had never told anyone what they were going through, because they had never heard anyone say it first.
That is what Fortitude does. It goes first. So you do not have to go alone.
Four seasons. Over sixty-five episodes. Speaking stages at prayer breakfasts, women's conferences, churches, galas, and healthcare events across the Midwest. A podcast that became a ministry. A ministry that became a family. And two people from a small town in Minnesota who are proof that God does not waste your worst season. He turns it into the thing that helps someone else survive theirs.
Heather brings the fire. The raw, unfiltered, say-it-out-loud vulnerability that makes you feel like you are sitting across from your best friend who also happens to love Jesus fiercely.
Amos brings the steady. The quiet, unmovable, I-am-not-going-anywhere strength that reminds every man listening that staying is not weakness. It is the hardest and most holy thing you will ever do.
Together, they are building something that will outlast both of them. Not a brand. Not a platform. A community where the table is always open, the coffee is always on, and nobody has to pretend they have it all together to belong.
If you are reading this, you already belong here.
Welcome to Fortitude.
MISSION AND VALUES
To spread hope and healing through honest faith, real stories, and a community that refuses to let anyone walk alone
Honest faith: We do not perform. We tell the truth about where we are.
Real stories: Every story matters. Pain does not discriminate, and neither does hope.
Healing without performance: You do not have to have it together to belong here.
WHY WE SHOW UP
God still meets people in the middle of the mess. And healing begins the moment pretending ends.
So we make room for the stories most people hide. Addiction. Shame. Marriage under pressure. Parenting while barely holding on. Faith that feels tired. The recovery is taking longer than anyone expected.
We are not here to impress anyone. We are here to remind you that you are not too far gone, too broken, or too late.
WHAT WE MAKE ROOM FOR
Fortitude started as a podcast in 2022. A kitchen table. A microphone. A willingness to go first.
What began as a conversation became a community. A ministry. A gathering place for people who thought nobody could understand what they were carrying.
Now Fortitude lives through the podcast, through speaking, through events, and through every story that permits someone else to stop hiding.
What God redeems, He uses. And He is not done yet.
WHAT FORTITUDE BECAME
Fortitude started as a podcast in 2022 and grew into something more.
What began as a conversation became a place people could come to breathe. A ministry. A gathering point. A voice for people who thought nobody could understand what they were carrying.
Now Fortitude lives through the podcast, through speaking, through events, and through every story that permits someone else to stop hiding.
That is why we are here.
"When you experience pain with fortitude, that is where healing begins."- Heather, Founder and CEO

Fortitude Guest / Retreat Attendee
Being part of Fortitude retreats and conferences over the past few years has been such a gift in my life. There is something truly special about the way Heather and Allesia create space for women to slow down, be seen, and encounter the Lord in a real and personal way.
Whether attending a retreat, joining a conference, or even having the opportunity for my son Trenton and me to speak at the mother-son event, I have always walked away feeling deeply encouraged and spiritually renewed. These gatherings are not just events. They are intentional, Spirit-led spaces that meet people where they are and gently draw them closer to where God is calling them. I am so grateful for what God is doing through Fortitude Ministries.

There is something so special about the kind of divine appointments you know were orchestrated far beyond your own plans. Meeting Heather Kittelson at a junior high boys basketball game and then connecting with Fortitude Ministries was exactly that for me. It was not coincidence. It was God-led and right on time.
What I have found through Fortitude is authenticity, honesty, and a deep hunger for Jesus. Heather and Allesia lead with surrendered hearts and a genuine desire to see others healed, strengthened, and set free. There is something powerful about being surrounded by women who have been through hard things, are not pretending, and still walk in truth and freedom. This connection has reminded me that God knows exactly what our hearts need, and He is always faithful to provide.

Fortitude Ministries has been such a blessing in my life. I have had the opportunity to attend retreats led by Heather Kittelson and Allesia, and I always leave feeling refreshed, encouraged, connected to other women, and closer to God. There is a sincerity in the way they lead that makes people feel safe, welcomed, and seen.
Heather’s I Am Fortified Conferences beautifully bring together inspiring speakers, worship, faith, and authentic community in a way that helps women grow deeper in their relationship with God and with one another. Heather is the real deal. She does not lead from personal agenda, but from a sincere desire to follow the heart of the Father. You can feel that in every detail, and it is one of the reasons Fortitude carries such a genuine and lasting impact.
